NORYL is a NORYL resin owned by SABIC. NORYL was previously a trademark of GE and is the symbol of polyphenylene ether (PPO) resins in the group. It is one of the world's five major general engineering plastics. They combine the high heat resistance of polyphenylene ether resins at a low cost, good electrical properties, excellent hydrolytic stability, and the ability to be packaged with halogen-free flame retardants, with excellent dimensional stability, good processability, and low specific gravity. NORYL resins have good mechanical and chemical properties and may be suitable for a wide variety of applications.

Since 2025, multiple countries have introduced a wave of trade restrictions, with the plastics industry bearing the brunt. Thailand announced a ban on plastic waste imports, Japan fully prohibited products containing perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), the EU expanded its 16th round of sanctions against Russia to include primary aluminum imports, and the Philippines proposed a nickel ore export ban. These measures not only disrupt raw material supplies but also reshape the global plastics trade.

The PC/ABS alloy combines the high strength and heat resistance (110°C) of PC with the easy processability of ABS, widely used in automotive (dashboards, door handles), 3C electronics (laptop casings), communications (5G base station covers), and home appliances. It features UV resistance, flame retardancy (V-0 rating), and dimensional stability. Defects like silver streaks and warping are addressed through drying (120°C ×4h), mold temperature optimization, flow promoters, and structural design. Nano-enhanced (thermal conductivity 1.2 W/m·K) and bio-based modifications (40% carbon reduction) are expanding its applications in new energy and medical fields.
