With the popularity of electric vehicles around the world, the technical requirements for key components are also increasing.

In modern firefighting equipment, the choice of material for helmet visors is of utmost importance. Today, we will delve into two high-performance plastics—PPSU and PSU—and their outstanding performance in firefighter helmet visors and other high-end applications.

In the wave of the low-altitude economy, engineering plastics have become an indispensable "unsung hero" for drones and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, thanks to their lightweight, high strength, and corrosion resistance. From reinforced nylon used in robust fuselages and landing gears, to polycarbonate forming transparent and impact-resistant canopy covers; from the stable performance of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) in high-temperature motor components, to the exceptional strength that carbon fiber composites provide for rotors and primary structures—engineering plastics play a critical role in reducing weight, extending range, structural design, and safety protection. They quietly support the performance breakthroughs and commercial adoption of low-altitude aircraft, serving as a vital foundation for the ascent of this new economic paradigm.

TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer) is a versatile material that combines the elasticity of rubber with the strength of plastic. Known for its exceptional abrasion resistance, weather durability, environmental friendliness, and processability, TPU is widely used in diverse fields such as athletic footwear, electronic protection, automotive components, medical devices, and even flexible electronics. As a "perfect hybrid" of rubber and plastic, TPU continues to drive product innovation and industrial upgrading, offering reliable and sustainable material solutions for modern life and industrial development, quietly reshaping our manufacturing and consumer experiences.

In the engineering plastics industry, color difference control has moved far beyond visual judgment. The L, a, b values form the internationally recognized three-dimensional coordinate system for color, representing lightness, red-green hue, and yellow-blue hue respectively. Understanding these three numbers is the key to correctly interpreting colorimeter reports and pinpointing the root cause of color deviation—whether it comes from material batch variation, drying process instability, or injection molding parameter drift.

PFAS, known as “forever chemicals,” are a large group of fluorinated substances with extremely stable carbon-fluorine bonds that resist degradation in the environment and pose health risks. In engineering plastics, fluoropolymers such as PTFE, PFA, and PVDF are used either as base materials or processing aids to provide heat resistance, low friction, and non-stick properties. Due to tightening regulations by the EU, U.S., and China, customers now demand PFAS test reports to verify compliance. This requirement helps avoid customs detention, meet brand owners’ sustainability mandates, and prevent costly lawsuits. Without a valid report, products risk being excluded from supply chains. The industry is rapidly moving toward PFAS-free alternatives. A certified test report has become a mandatory pass for global trade in engineering plastics.
