BASF, a global leader in the chemical industry, recently announced the launch of an innovative polyphthalamide (PPA) product, Ultramid® Advanced N2U40G5. This product is specifically developed to meet the stringent technical requirements of the new - generation USB Type - C connectors. The material is now locally produced in China and can be supplied to the global market.

Driven by the rapid development of the electronics and information industry, high-thermal-conductivity plastics are gradually replacing traditional metal heat dissipation materials, gaining widespread adoption in critical fields such as LED lighting, semiconductor packaging, electronics, and automotive electronics.

The PC/ABS alloy combines the high strength and heat resistance (110°C) of PC with the easy processability of ABS, widely used in automotive (dashboards, door handles), 3C electronics (laptop casings), communications (5G base station covers), and home appliances. It features UV resistance, flame retardancy (V-0 rating), and dimensional stability. Defects like silver streaks and warping are addressed through drying (120°C ×4h), mold temperature optimization, flow promoters, and structural design. Nano-enhanced (thermal conductivity 1.2 W/m·K) and bio-based modifications (40% carbon reduction) are expanding its applications in new energy and medical fields.

In the wave of the low-altitude economy, engineering plastics have become an indispensable "unsung hero" for drones and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, thanks to their lightweight, high strength, and corrosion resistance. From reinforced nylon used in robust fuselages and landing gears, to polycarbonate forming transparent and impact-resistant canopy covers; from the stable performance of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) in high-temperature motor components, to the exceptional strength that carbon fiber composites provide for rotors and primary structures—engineering plastics play a critical role in reducing weight, extending range, structural design, and safety protection. They quietly support the performance breakthroughs and commercial adoption of low-altitude aircraft, serving as a vital foundation for the ascent of this new economic paradigm.
